Brian and Doug our two lucky contest winners arrived to Buena Vista yesterday with Dave. They had a great flight into Guatemala city and found our rep Sergio with cold beverages and a air conditioned Bus.

Arriving in the lodge they were great by D'yana and Asuzena with cold beverages and a lunch of grilled chicken and soup with rice. They were already to get the evening started.

We asked our gardener to take the boys our touring the island and do some impromptu Iguana hunting. They were all for this adventure.

THE CAPS LOCK MUST BE ON FOR MY COMPUTER TO TYPE NOW. SORRY

FISHING WAS DECENT FOR THE LAST DAY ON THE FURIOUS. WE STARTED OUT BY MISSING A NICE BLUE MARLIN AND THEN CATCHING A SINGLE SAIL. THE FISH BROUGHT ALONG A GUEST. SO WHEN CAPT MARCIEL SAID THERE IS A SAILFISH WITH IT TIM THREW OUT ANOTHER BAIT. THE OTHER SAIL TURNED OUT TO BE A LITTLE BLUE OR A STRIPEY. THE FIST CIRCLE TIMS BAIT FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES BUT WOULDN'T COMMIT. WE PULLED AWAY A FEW TIME TO TRY AND GENERATE A BITE BUT NO GO. FINALLY GOT THE OTHER SAIL TO THE BOAT AS THE WINDS BEGAN TO KICK UP.

WE THEN CAUGHT THREE MORE SINGLES AND A DOUBLE AS THE WINDS AND SEAS BEGAN TO GET REALLY DICEY. WE DECIDED THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION WAS A LONG TROLL HOME (lth) INSTEAD OF KILLING OURSELVES IN THE BUILDING SEAS. WE TROLLED ALL THE WAY TO THE 2 MILE MARK WITH ONLY A WAHOO BITE BUT STILL AN INCREDIBLE DAY.

After Kent fighting with the marling for about 1 hour the Marlin wanted to show us who was the FURIOSO (FURIOUS) Jeff was sit on the left side of the boat close to the motor and the marlin jumped over the motors way, and jumped in the boat breaking the back of a bench and also making with the bill on Jeff´s bally a small scrape. The besy day of fishing we had was 9 for 14 on those big pacific sails. Weather was rough on day 2 and 3 three of our week which by Guatamala standards was unusual.

The water was rough in the morning and leveled out a bit in the afternoon. Despite these unusual conditions for this part of Guatemala they still were able to raise 20 sailfish with 16 bites and 12 releases. They also had a marlin come up in the baits but unfortunately they were unable to catch it.

Harry again was fishing with Captain Marcial and his mate Danilo and they all had a good time.

Captain Joe Riley was supposed to arrive tonight to fish on the Furioso for the next days but was delayed by the weather

Keep in touch and we will let you know how Captain Joe does over the next few days.

Capt “Fito” and his wonderful mate”Danilo” aboard the “Monkey Business” led Nick Bartle, Al Rittmeyer and Kyavan Ulisys to a total of 30 sailfish raised, landing a total of 14 and 2 double bites. The weather was a delightful 78 degrees and the sea was calm after running 33 miles out.

Capt Jimmi and mate Gesler aboard Furioso, a 31 Jupiter ran 27 miles calm fishing close to Monkey Business. Aboard was another group of Maryland fisherman, Bill Pino, Jeff Cox, Glenn Orr, Larry Lee and Tony Bastista They had into 18 bites and landed 11 sailfish all estimated at 100 + Lbs!!!, Also landed were 02 dorado, 20 and 25 Lbs each.

As all awaited the snow report from back home in mp, several guest reluctantly had to fly home early for business and there families.

Capt. Kevin Owens had to return to Maryland Thursday afternoon so Monte Elswick and John Treanor drove Kevin back to Guatemala City to catch his flight out.

After leaving Kevin, Monte Elswick and John Treanor toured the city of Guatemala making their way down to the town of Antigua.

We shared a wonderful lunch at an ancient monistery, and then toured the grounds for amazing photos opportunities.

Also in attendance was the president of Guatemala which made for an interesting dining experience.

Friday was another relaxing and over fun filled day at Buena Vista.

Capt Fito and mate Danilo ran the remaining group of John Treanor, Jeff Cox, Larry Lee, Glenn Orr and Bill PIno out for a little bottom fishing. We received a radio report of a yellow fin tuna bite about 35 miles out; we pulled up the lines and headed to the spat. We were amazed to find thousand of spinner Dolphin jumping and flying through the air! We cincled the area landing a nice 25 lbs. Yellow fin Tuna. We later switched back to top water baits landing five large sails fish” The entire group jumped in the water for some amazing photos before releasing the fish!

We returned early to the docks to be greated with Coconut daiquiris, and yellowfin Suchi.

The remaining group spent another wonderful evening enjoying kabobs and delightful deserts. We shared our tale of the week while “Jimmy Buffett” played softly in the back ground. After a dip in the pool, we returned to our rooms for another good night’s sleep.

We can´t say enough good things about the staff at Buena Vista. We all agreed that we had being treated like Family and this relaxing but action packed experience will prompt us all to return to this little bit of paradise that we all desires in our lives.
